The Top Kannada Films, 2008
Sandalwood Has seen some good and some not so good time this year, Kannada film industry had quite a few hits, and got introduced news stars, new directors, news music directors, we can say this year was more experiment and more challenges taken from KFI people. and also film like Gulabi Talkies went to win award like Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema. not so good and no so bad, but we can say experment in film making gives new life in coming year for Kannada film industry. we sandalwood news wishes great 2009 for KFI.and All Kannada Lovers.
Director: Girish Kasaravally
Gulabi Talkies, based on the story written by famous writer Vaidehi, is the best thing that happened to Kannada cinema this year. It is Girish Kasaravalli's best film till date.
The film won the best Indian film award and Umashri won the best actress award at the 10th Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema. Issac Thomas' background score and S Ramachandra's captivating photography are the other highlights of the film.

Though a remake of Telugu film Bhadra, Gaja, directed by debutant director Maadesh is one of the biggest blockbusters of 2008.
Action hero Darshan had Navya Nair and Ekta Khosla as company.

Golden Star Ganesh's Galipata was the most anticipated films of the year. It had the best in the business -- Rathnavelu as the cameraman and Hari Krishna as the music director.

Directed by veteran director Ramanath Rigvedhi, Budhdhivantha is a remake of the Tamil film Naan Avan Illai, and the biggest Upendra hit in recent times.
Upendra had acted with five heroines -- Pooja Gandhi, Brunda, Nethanya, Saloni and Suman Ranganath -- in this film. The dialogues, written by Upendra and Ram Narayan, were the highlight of this film.

This film, dealing with female adolescence blues, is one of the best films of the year.
Mano Murthy's songs and picturisation helped the film in a big way. The film has good performances by young artistes like Radhika Pandit, Shubha Poonja and Yesh.

The film boasts of top performances from Sudeep and Ramya. Sudeep played a radio jockey, while Ramya played a girl traumatised by her drunken father and stepmother.

The film after Milan, director Prakash made a movie vamshi with punnet again, in vamshi he showed different punnet and character which he never did. And vamshi performance is box office was quite good. But it was not upto the milana or Prakash directorial skill. Music in the vamshi was good and Dr.Raj song inside this film made even better.

Taj Mahal was surprise package super hit of this year. Has debutant director Chandru done descent job in Taj Mahal and Music Abhiman was excellent to make Taj Mahal a good success of 2008.
